Position Description

The Program Coordinator is responsible for program development, operation and management of youth, teen, and family programs.  Responsibilities include volunteer development, program planning and facilitation, event planning, administrative work and occasional night and weekend activities.


  • High School Diploma required; Bachelor's degree preferred
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Must be 21 years of age with two or more years of experience working/volunteering with families, youth and teens.
  • The ability to communicate effectively with a diverse group of individuals; the ability to work as a team with other staff and members, who is service oriented and consistently conducts business in a professional manner; ability to act swiftly in an emergency situation


  1. Works with: Get Summer, Model Legislature & Court, Model United Nations, Teen Nights, Teen Advisory Board, Junior High Y Club, Social Responsibility and Community Service
  2. Assists with other Programs and Special Events as needed
  3. Works to achieve budgeted and fiscally responsible financial outcomes.
  4. Grows/manages programming in manner to achieve service, financial and quality objectives.
  5. Assists with special events and services, i.e. Healthy Kids Day, Fall Fest, Bill Hearing Nights, fundraiser activities, VIP Day's, etc. Leads programs as needed.
  6. Responds to complaints and requests by directly responding in person, by phone, or letter form and posting responses, or directs them to the proper channels when necessary.
  7. Works with the Program Director to develop and execute marketing plans for all programs.
  8. Assists Program Director with the evaluation process for all programs.
  9. Must be accessible for members and parents, event coverage, and community events.
  10. Serves as a member of the YMCA branch and Metropolitan Los Angeles staff team.
