Position Description

Under the supervision of the Carson Site Manager, the Home Delivery Manager is responsible for the overall management and administration of the Home Delivered Meal Program, assisting the Carson Site Manager in the operation of the Congregate Meal Service at the Carson site and substituting for other Congregate Site Managers as needed. The scope of responsibility includes, but is not limited to, staff development and supervision, volunteer development, member involvement and satisfaction, new client assessments and quarterly reassessments of existing clients, delivery route management and meal packing and delivery plus program supervision, promotion and development.


  • Bachelor's degree in social service or its equivalent in academic preparation or experience.
  • Certification in CPR, First Aid/AED is required within 60 days of hire and must remain current at all times.
  • Certification in Serv-Safe Management must remain current at all times (certification completed within 3 months of hire if needed).
  • Have the physical capacity to lift and carry the delivery boxes and any other such equipment needed.
  • Possess strong skills in program development and management, special event management, staff supervision and development, member involvement and satisfaction, oral and written communication and volunteer development.
  • Knowledge and experience required for the office and business systems, program resources and schedules of the department.
  • Knowledge and experience with L.A. County Area Agency on Aging Home Delivery program management as well as their computer intake system.
  • Ability to establish and maintain harmonious relationships with staff, co-workers, volunteers, members and the general public is essential.


Program Operations and Development                                                

  1. Operate the Home Delivery program based on target market and in compliance with LA Co. Area Agency on Aging guidelines and assist with Congregate Program as needed.
  2. Oversee and conduct ongoing program evaluations and surveys to ensure a high level of quality programs and services are maintained at all times.
  3. Continually evaluate programs to ensure outcomes align with the needs of the community and the branch strategic plan.
  4. Develop annual marketing plan including mailings, advertisement and community outreach. 

Key result indicators include: participant growth and retention, and high satisfaction ratings.


Fiscal Management                                                                                                            

  1. Manage monthly donation billing system for Home Delivery program participants.
  2. Input daily participant activity into GetCare software system for timely receipt of monthly funding invoicing.

Key result indicators include: participant donation billing and deposit, computer input of participant service and monthly grant invoicing.


Staff Supervision and Development                                               

  1. Recruit and hire staff using screening tools and panel interviews. Ensure that all new employees participate in the New Employee Orientation Program and appropriate new hire checklists within 60 days of hire. Child Abuse Prevention Training and Data Security Training to be completed before hire.
  2. Provide direct supervision to Home Delivery Drivers assuring all staff are qualified and meet minimum performance standards for their position.
  3. Review and evaluate staff and volunteer performance annually with Carson site manager.
  4. Provide positive and corrective feedback to staff on a regular basis.
  5. Provide training for staff and volunteers on an ongoing basis through staff meetings, personal consultation, special courses and workshops.
  6. Participate in monthly Quality Assurance staff meetings and quarterly In-service trainings.
  7. Communicate effectively with all levels of staff and volunteers.
  8. Maintain a high level of staff professionalism by enforcing all staff policies, including association uniforms and name tags.
  9. Ensure appropriate staff coverage in all assigned programs and services. Fill in as needed (off site locations in Redondo Beach and Torrance).
  10. Assist the branch management team in maintaining high staff morale, high staff retention, and positive results from any staff satisfaction survey.

Key result indicators include: 100% of new hires complete New Employee Orientation Program, 100% of new hires selected following a formal panel interview process, low staff turnover rates, high staff satisfaction rates.


Member Relationship Management                                                            

  1. Utilize ActiveNet as a tool to manage relationships with members by entering member information.
  2. Ensure all staff members are familiar with all programs offered at the YMCA so staff are able to inform members of YMCA programs that will meet members' changing needs and interests.
  3. Create opportunities (events, initiatives, activities) for members to develop small communities within program and branch.
  4. Greet members by name and take the initiative to talk to members.

Volunteer Development                                                                  

  1. Identify program volunteer positions and assist with the identification, hiring and tracking of program volunteers.
  2. Recruit, train and supervise all volunteers.

 Financial Development                                                                                  

  1. Support the Community Support Campaign and Special Fundraising Events and President's Club.
  2. Create member involvement opportunities on a year-round basis to support annual fundraising goals including year-round recruitment.
  3. Work with staff and volunteers to meet annual campaign recruitment and financial goals.

Key Result Indicators Include: number of campaigners recruited, percentage of returning campaigners and meet campaign goal outcomes.


  1. Establish and successfully meet annual goals and objectives within the department.
  2. Maintain up to date and accurate Home Delivery Client files in the AAA computer system, GetCare, and hard file documents.  
  3. Maintain commitment to safety through regularly scheduled and documented on-site safety inspections. Meet Association standards for safety and risk management at all times.
  4. Comply with all Association, branch and AAA specific policies and procedures.
  5. Meet all reporting deadlines.
  6. Ensure all equipment and program areas are clean and in proper working order. Resolve any problems promptly and appropriately.
  7. Manage office systems and records effectively.

Key result indicators include: A smooth program operation with clear and orderly records reflecting actual experience to program goals.

    1. High quality and service delivery with a good sense of YMCA values and philosophy. Positive interaction and communication with participants, members, staff and volunteers.
    2. High level of customer service, resulting in member/participant satisfaction and program growth.
    3.
