POSITION SUMMARY

The West Valley Family YMCA is currently seeking a Cheerleading Coach/Instructor for the Youth Programs Department. With the guidance and direction from the Healthy Lifestyles and Youth Programs Coordinator, the Cheerleading Coach/Instructor is responsible for the oversite and organization of the new Cheerleading Program at the YMCA. Understands and consistently enforces safety rules, policies and guidelines for all practices, develops and administers a curriculum; reviews all emergency procedures and responds to emergency situations immediately in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • AGE: Minimum age of 21.
  • MANDATORY CERTIFICATIONS: First Aid and CPR Certified.
  • PREFERRED CERTIFICATIONS: Any certification, specifically safety & spotting programs such as American Association of Cheerleading Coaches and Administrators (AACCA), National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS) or the United States All Star Federation (USASF).
  • RELATED EXPEIRENCE: 2+ years in coaching Cheerleading and/or tumbling.
  • EDUCATION: High School Diploma

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT/MINIMUM PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • You must have the physical, visual, and auditory ability to perform the essential functions of the job.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Create and execute a set curriculum for the Cheerleading Program at the YMCA.
  • Explore the competitive side of cheerleading and attend local cheerleading competitions.
  • Instruct program participants with cheers, chants, dances, tumbling and stunts.
  • Ensure proper progressions are met while instructing tumbling and stunts.
  • Reviews all emergency procedures and responds to emergency situations immediately in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures.
  • Attends staff meetings and trainings as required.
  • Demonstrates the YMCA Core Values of Caring, Respect, Honesty and Responsibility in all dealings with members, guests, volunteers and fellow staff. Maintains effective, positive relationships with members, participants and other staff.
