Position Description

The Network Specialist role is an exempt position that provides 2nd level support resources to YMCA staff to help anticipate and resolve network problems, and maintain the Association's telecommunications, cable TV, and desktop computing environment. These responsibilities include assistance with the support and management of the YMCA data network, phone systems, mobile communications, cable TV systems, cabling installations, server and PC network.

This position will be based out of Montebello, however, travel amongst our locations will be required on a regular basis.

Key Result Areas:

  • Network & PC Support
  1. Assist with connection and maintenance of branch childcare sites to WAN.
  2. Assist with computer patch management and vulnerability scans.
  3. Troubleshoot and resolve PC, applications, DSL, and router issues at childcare sites and branches when necessary.
  4. Provide support for Mobile Device Management (MDM) related issues.
  5. Provide over-the-phone consultation and on-site visits (as needed) to ensure optimum operation of all systems.
  6. Collaborate with senior level Information Technology staff to configure, troubleshoot, and support internal network and computer environment.
  7. Receive and respond to incoming calls, tickets, and /or emails regarding desktop problems, and creating, modifying, or deleting network and MRM user accounts.
  8. Provide one-on-one computer and device training as necessary.
  • Telecom System
  1. Work with telecommunication vendor to support and coordinate changes to the Avaya IP Office phone systems including the voice mail system.
  2. Assist with implementation of Association infrastructure design at new or remodeled YMCA facilities.
  3. Manage telecom inventory for Association.
  4. Coordinate with all telecom and CATV vendors, consultants, and carriers.
  5. Act as liaison between branches and related telecom vendors.
  6. Maintain open communication & strong support system with branches regarding all telecom related issues.

  1. Perform other duties assigned by the Sr. Vice President of Information Technology

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Systems Preferred
  • Microsoft Certification or at least 3-5 years work experience in the computer field.
  • Possess and demonstrate knowledge of PC and Telecom hardware, software, and networks.
  • Demonstrate basic computer programming skills.
  • Excellent listening, interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
  • Ability to anticipate and initiate work to be performed.
  • Proven troubleshooting skills ability to identify and resolve system problems.
  • Experience working in a team oriented, and mission driven environment.
  • Ability to work with staff, vendors, and consultants at all levels.
  • Model YMCA character and live a healthy lifestyle.
  • Must have own reliable transportation.
  • Must be able to lift 25 pounds
