Position Description

Under the supervision of the YMCA Tree Lot Manager, this position is responsible for unloading, trimming, standing, and selling Christmas Trees and other sales items. Staff will load trees on cars and perform deliveries to customer residences. Staff is required to follow all safety procedures.


  • 21 years of age
  • Valid Driver License, motor vehicle record which meets Association Transportation Policy
  • Current First Aid certification
  • Experience in the operation of vehicles and safe driving practices
  • Strong character values, communication skills, emotional maturity, ability to read and understand maps and written instructions
  • Previous customer service experience
  • Experience handling power tools and/or tree lot experience preferred
  • Ability to lift 50lbs
  • Must have vehicle capable of transporting trees (i.e. Pick-up Truck, etc.)


  1. Safely transport passengers, trees, and/or equipment as assigned by supervisor during assigned routes and schedules.
  2. Practice safe and defensive operation of vehicle in accordance with the Association Transportation Policy.
  3. Maintain effective communication with site staff, supervisors and customers as needed.
  4. Prepare reports and maintain records including daily log, check-out and mileage sheets, delivery information and records, as needed.
  5. Monitor vehicle registration, first aid supplies and fire extinguisher and report upcoming expirations and/or deficiencies to supervisor.
  6. Immediately report any accidents, injuries, travel mishaps or occurrences with other vehicles, drivers, pedestrians, and/or staff to supervisor and branch Transportation Coordinator to comply with Association reporting policy.
  7. Perform a documented vehicle inspection prior to each operation of the vehicle.
  8. Be responsible for the safety, health and welfare of all passengers during the loading, transit and unloading of the vehicle.
  9. Adhere to all YMCA, Federal and California State laws and policies relating to the transportation of passengers.
  10. Work closely with YMCA Directors in maintaining and improving transportation safety standards.
  11. Immediately report any tickets received during operation of YMCA vehicles.
  12. Attend staff meetings and trainings as required.
  13. Uphold YMCA policies for safety, supervision, mandated reporting and risk management.
  14. Demonstrate the Six Pillars of Character (Trustworthiness, Citizenship, Respect, Responsibility, Caring, Fairness) as well as the YMCA Core Values of Caring, Respect, Honesty and Responsibility in all dealings with members, guests, volunteers and fellow staff.
  15. Demonstrate competencies in and willingness to develop in the Cause-Driven Leadership areas of Mission Advancement, Collaboration, Operational Effectiveness and Personal Growth.
  16. All other duties as assigned by your supervisor.
