The Program Coordinator is responsible for creating a welcoming and supportive environment in assigned YMCA programs. Responsibilities include: supervising programs, engaging with members and program member retention activities. Responsibilities also include assisting the Executive Director in managing branch staff and administrative duties as assigned.


  • AGE: Eighteen years or older
  • EDUCATION: high school diploma or Equivalent
  • CERTIFICATIONS: YMCA Team Leader Certification, preferred
  • SPECIALIZED SKILLS: Strong character values; communication skills


You must have the physical, visual, and auditory ability to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodations.


  1. Create a welcoming environment in all YMCA program areas taking time to talk to members and enthusiastically greet them by name with a smile and eye contact.
  2. Proactively connect and monitor members to develop, and support the achievement of their goals, and matching members' interests to YMCA programs.
  3. Responsible for building small communities by facilitating connections with and between members.
  4. Assist Members with their questions and monitor activity in assigned program
  5. Monitor program areas to ensure equipment is functioning, and environment is clean.
  6. Respond promptly and courteously to all member complaints, compliments and inquiries while following the appropriate procedures at all times.
  7. Actively interact with members regarding their participation in YMCA programs, Annual Support Campaign and Special Events.
  8. Role model positive interactions with members for staff; provide coaching and feedback to staff when necessary to ensure the best experience for members.
  9. Assist the Executive Director in providing staff supervision and training, recommends appropriate staff coaching and discipline to Executive Director when necessary.
  10. Assist Executive Director with administrative tasks including but not limited to: staff scheduling, department timesheet monitoring and daily audit and reporting procedures.
  11. Taking lead role in reviewing candidates in Workbright ATS, conducting references checks and hiring process (assisting new hires with required compliance trainings).
  12. Manager on Duty providing special event support (i.e.: birthday parties, space rental, etc.
  13. Provide lead role in managing Simon Meadow calendar, branch program calendar, social media posting and advertisement.
  14. Lead and support person for Youth Sports (Get Out Get Moving and Youth Sports Field/parent liaison).
  15. Provide lead role in managing Palisades High Student Work Partnership.
  16. Manager on duty on Saturdays.
  17. Attend staff meetings and trainings as required.
  18. Uphold YMCA policies for safety, supervision, mandated reporting and risk management.
  19. Demonstrate the Six Pillars of Character (Trustworthiness, Citizenship, Respect, Responsibility, Caring, Fairness) as well as the YMCA Core Values of caring, respect, honesty and responsibility in all dealings with members, guests, volunteers and fellow staff.
  20. Demonstrate competencies in and willingness to develop in the Cause Driven Leadership areas of mission advancement, collaboration, operational effectiveness and personal growth.
  21. All other duties as assigned by your supervisor.
